POKEMON sin, cursed body, male will-o-wisp ● curse trick ● shadow sneak rev, protean, female theif ● substitute bind ● ancient power | HISTORY The world had already fallen into a fallen empire, yet life still went on. Humans were brought into this hell only to be demolished by people alike. Cruel doesn’t define life the way it is now. When the light at the end of the tunnel had opened, there was a strong desire for freedom and happiness but nothing of that kind was found. After breathing the first few breaths of life, Cole was birthed into a place that was like none he’d ever imagine. This was purgatory. Nevita, the land he called home, a region where poverty plagued the streets and even his own mother starved due to the low quantity of natural resources. As a baby, he needed his nutrition but there was never any around for him. This caused him to reach a point in life that no child should have to go through, near death. Mal-nutrition diseased the infant and no one nearby would help him, even after his mother begged and begged someone to do something. It was as if someone had sent him a guardian angel, a wandering traveler came upon the village in which Cole was born. He called himself a doctor so to speak, blabbering on about his mission to bring back someone to the facility in which he worked at. She was desperate and didn’t know where else to go, crawling up to the gentleman, the mother asked him what it would take for him to help her baby. Apparently the suit-and-tie wanderer, had peaked an interest in Cole, explaining that he saw something inside him that he hadn’t felt in years. Then came the agreement. Supposedly the transaction was to go like this, if she would hand over the baby to him, then he’d treat the child like it was his own and nurture him back to good health. In an act of fight or flight, the lady agreed to sell Cole, as if he was some sort of slave, to the so-called doctor and in those last moments that she thought the world couldn’t get any worse, it did. Thankfully, the agreement was kept in full and once Cole boarded the travelers cart he was taken good care of by one of his assistants. She may not have been his real mother but at least he got the nurturing he needed to stay alive. For a second, everything felt at peace and suddenly darkness enclosed his mind. Once awake, the child was no longer in a place that he recognized, almost as if it was a parallel world. Here, everything was backwards, there were people to cater to him when he asked them to and Cole got a simple school education growing up. The doctor who bought him was barely around, only to see him at night from when he came back from his business. That’s when things were getting fishy. After years went by in his new found home, Cole grew to become a rather athletic teenager and he finally learned the basics of the monsters that he rarely saw when strolling through the outside world. Pokemon, as they called it, was something he never got a chance to see when living in his village the closest he ever got to one was when he had first been brought into this world a strange spirit was said to haunt the village, and once he got adjusted to his eyes there was a time he caught a glimpse of a ghostly figure. Sadly that was the last he’d seen of such a creature, but there was always this feeling he had in his gut that he’d always been watched wherever he went. Now that his body was starting to mature and adapt to its new found strength, the doctor decided it was time to spill the beans on the real reason he bought him that fateful day. Cole was approached by the gentleman one night while he practiced his daily exercises, at first he didn’t want to listen to the geezer until he mentioned the job he’s involved in. The doctor had been lying this whole time about his occupation, when in reality the reason he was never home was that he was a bounty hunter. The story was quite laughable, and Cole didn’t hold back any tears or giggles, but the mood changed heavily when the doctor grabbed him by the neck strangling him roughly. He explained that the government that controls the world had hired him to relinquish people that they found threatening to the balance of power. The look that the teen saw in his eyes proved that this was no laughing matter. Once he was removed from his grasp, Cole questioned the hunter on why he had brought him here. There was no other answer that he knew of besides that he’d wanted Cole to become like him, a bounty hunter. From that day onwards, the two of them trained in the arts of stealth and combat. The obstacles and sessions were ruthless and almost life threatening, as there were many times that Cole had seen God’s hand touching his soul. But to no avail, he wasn’t ready to die just yet; he was born into this world without a purpose, only to survive this unforsaken hell. Now that he has something to hold onto once again, there was a burning fire that drove him to fulfill every task. His master agreed that he cannot accomplish missions without any help which is why he gave Cole someone to accompany him. A ghostly creature that he found oddly familiar, a shadowy Banette with a smile as evil as the devil. Years passed by, and eventually Cole was able to grasp a handle on being a bounty hunter, having already finished a few sample missions that the master sent him on. They had been easy tasks, where he just needed to find his target and incapacitate them. Along the way, he befriended a Kecleon that had stood up to him after his previous owner had been killed Cole’s hands. Taking a small interest in the creature, he allowed him to tag along with them and teach the pokemon as his master did him. Then came the fateful day. Cole was on his way back to the mansion after completing another bounty that paid him quite handsomely. He wanted to celebrate with his master but when he reached the house all was not bright. Inside, for the first time in his life, he noticed that the gentleman was actually frightened. Cole pleaded that he tell him what’s going on but he couldn’t get an answer out of him, he was only handed a letter and inside would read his fate. “We no longer need your assistance in hunting, we have everything under control. Thank you for everything.” Now everything made sense, the hunters were becoming the hunted. His master then turned to him after Cole read the letter and held him by his hands. “You need to make things right, take out the government and help change the world. That is the real reason why I purchased you that day, you have something that nobody can understand.” After that Cole had understood everything his master told, and with that the man departed from the mansion never to return again, with one goal in his mind; to change the world. |
