PROVINCE OF ILLYIS
history;; The first of the original three provinces of Pokéarth. The Province of Illyis has always been favored in the eyes of the government and life has forever been one step ahead of the suffering the others go through on a daily basis. They are closest to the government and buy the natural resources and the machines that come from Nevita and Akiro daily. In the past, they bought higher quality technology from Fripperi, but, along side the other Provinces, believe the mysterious fourth Province to be all but gone. In what has become known as the Great Revolution, they aided the Citadel in their fight against rebels from Nevita and Fripperi and gave the call to banish the survivors to Orre. Within the recent century, their once prosperous lives have been lessened a bit, but most citizens still live in the lap of luxury.
geography;; The Province of Illyis spans over the Kanto and Johto regions, as well as staking claims on the Sevii Islands and much of the water surrounding it. Their land is not as mineral rich as the other two, but farmers enjoy wonderful farmlands on the far west borders of the Johto region. The Citadel, the paradise capital of the world, is located where the Indigo League was located centuries ago, though both the city and the Province claim to not be affiliated in any way. They are closest to the Province of Akiro and enjoy much lush flora region-wide. Most populated areas are large towns or sprawling cities that grow to be very large - vertically or horizontally - but technology has helped them to cut down on pollution to the point it is almost non-existent to keep their signature forests in tact.
daily life;; Few a person goes hungry within the border of Illyis. Money is shared between those who have jobs - though the number of people eligible without a career are startlingly few - and most of the jobs people in the cities and towns have are laid back. Without having to struggle to maintain their state of well being, the people in Illyis are allowed to flourish in the arts and sciences. People tend to be more educated and more creative than in the other Provinces. Fashions are bright, bold, and can be a little on the strange side sometimes, but it depends from person to person. The stereotype for people within this Province range from anywhere from arrogant, cruel hearted, and sadistic to oblivious, stupid freak shows. While this obviously fits the bill on some people, let's be thankful that the people within the borders are just as diverse as anywhere else.
There are no strange traditions carried out in Illyis like the other three provinces; traditions within households and ethnic groups, however, are promoted all the same.
PROVINCE OF NEVITA
history;;Nevita is the second of the original three provinces of Pokéarth. Nevita has always and, presumably, always will be the main source of natural resources around the world. However, due to under population and the inability to get their hands on any good machinery, the people have been overworked and exhausted since the time the borders were set and region-wide jobs were set. During the Great Revolution, many of the people participating in the rebellion originated from this specific Province and, when the rebellion was crushed, they suffered great losses. In the passed century, they lost their hold on Hoenn to Akiro, but people originally living in Hoenn were able to retreat to Sinnoh - now the only land mass to their name - and have lessened the workload by extension. They are closest to the Province of Illyis and, while a greater ally to the flourishing Province, they detest it almost as much as the people of Akiro.
geography;; At one time, Nevita had control of both Hoenn and Sinnoh, two far apart regions. However, due to a recent scuffle with Akiro, their hold on Hoenn was lost to the aforementioned people. Sinnoh is the most mineral rich region in the entirety of Pokéarth and, as such, the entire region has practically been transformed into a massive mine with the intent to release said resources from their spot in the ground. However, this has caused much of the region to become incredibly polluted. Populated areas do not tend to grow bigger than average-sized at most, many villages having been set up in the wreckage of what used to be massive cities. These places are plagued by smoke and dust filling the air and those with weak lungs are susceptible to suffocation at any given moment. Flora once was prominent - especially in places around Floroma Town - but the years have done their toll on the land and most plants die before they can sprout into anything worthwhile.
daily life;; Where Illyis goes to bed with full stomachs, Nevita falls into slumber with their innards clawing at them from the inside, begging for food many cannot acquire. The economy is pour and currency, as well as food, do not circulate well through the single region and its surrounding waters. Every day is a struggle to survive and, as such, people do not tend to have time for things like art or education. People tend to be more street smart than book smart and most clothes that are bought, sold, gifted, or kept were made by hand within a certain town or village. The people of Nevita represent exhaustion, seeing as many are incredibly overworked and cannot afford to take any time off. Any second wasted could be a day off of the lifespan. With Fripperi isolated, Nevita has taken its place as the weakling of Pokéarth, the ones who are too fragile to survive without support, and are generally depressed overall. While, again, not entirely true for everyone, it would be hard to blame people in such living conditions for being a bit of a social doormat and not too enthusiastic about life.
In Nevita, in order to help bring in money and necessities, parents are allowed to sell their children into servitude to Illyis and the Citadel when they are anywhere between the ages of five and eighteen. From there, the children will serve one person, a family, or an entire company or community depending on who they are specifically sold to. While it is essentially slavery and referred to as such in the grimmer parts of Nevita and the entirety of Akiro, the Citadel likes to sugar coat it to sound less heinous than it really is. However, many people really on the grants they receive because of the system and many bend their wills if only to survive.
PROVINCE OF AKIRO
history;; Akiro is the newest province - having been created within the last century or so - and has been known as the delinquent child of Pokéarth. It was formed from the people within the rebellion or those who supported it and they have since been known as the greatest opposers to Illyis and the cause of the Citadel. Early on in their history, they make claims on the Hoenn region to gain better land and build up what they hope will become an empire to combat and take down the Oberste party, then recreate the Pokemon League from the times known as the Glory Days. While government officials have been sent there as they have been in Nevita and Illyis, many of them are intimidated by the generally intense people and many Akirans get away with things that they shouldn't. They are closest to the Province of Illyis and they are known to sneak over the border frequently if only for the sake of destroying property and killing citizens.
geography;; Akiro is a waste land. There is hardly a doubt about that. While they have claimed Hoenn within their borders, loyalty to the Orre Territories that they were abandoned to have kept many of their citizens within the old desert region. As such, much of the inhabited land is covered in sand as far as the eye can see. Even old paradises like Phenac City and Agate Village have fallen to the hands of time and human interference and the once lush and water spouting areas have been turned to ruins and handed over into the hands of crippling drought. Orre itself used to be known for its natural resources as much as the province of Nevita, but by the time that the rebellion was banished into those lands, the resources had mostly run dry. Where Illyis and Nevita set up communities of villages, towns, and cities - small as they may be in some cases - Akirans tend to lean more toward the nomadic side of things. The largest communities never grow over the population of fifty. They're scattered all across the region, however, and are even more common in Hoenn in comparison to the wanderers, but the number of families and individuals who trek across the barren lands are still enough to outnumber those who don't.
daily life;; As was stated above, much of the Province is dominated by nomads. As such, the people live a... well, very nomadic life! Wandering the lands, never settling in one place for too long... As such, where towns would have appeared otherwise, stops like the Outskirt Stand have been set up region-wide across both Orre and Hoenn and many people survive off of those alone. Many people make a living through the black market, selling stolen goods, or by the money exchange at the end of every Pokemon battle - illegal battles, that is, seeing as few to none ever work to gain a license - though others make it by in life by stealing from others or tricking them out of their things. Education is little, but it is not completely unheard of. The people have adapted to the art of survival and self preservation, however, and their street smarts are more than enough to make up for their lack of book smarts. However, seeing as life is less of a struggle here than in Nevita, more people have more time for things not entirely bent on keeping themselves alive. Under the glaring desert sun, people have taken up fashion, arts and crafts, and - again - studying and helping to make the region more educated as a whole. The people of Akiro stand for lust, less of the sexual kind and more of a raging desire for vengeance and justice, as well as coveting the things owned by others that they are likely to take for themselves.
While Akiro does not sell their children away, they have their own tradition that has been passed down. Their numbers have always been a little smaller and, with their people so spread out and in as dangerous a place as the unforgiving Orre desert, their people are closer to the brink of extinction than any other Province. Or, at least, they would be if they didn't get right on to it in terms of creating the next generation. In order to keep the birth rate even - and sometimes larger - than the death rate, females of the age of twelve are paired with males of the age of fifteen - and vice versa - and are expected to spend the rest of their lives with. Any couple who refuses, tries to flee, or is unable to reproduced are immediately offed, often violently, humiliatingly, and publicly.
PROVINCE OF FRIPPERI
history;; The third of the original three Provinces of Pokéarth, Fripperi was once the leader of machinery and technology between the three. However, despite their technological advances that went far beyond that of Illyis and Nevita, Fripperi suffered from horrible oppression from it's neighboring provinces. It was of little surprise when, in the wake of the Great Revolution, they worked together with local and foreign legendaries to separate themselves from the others and isolate themselves in a place no one would be able to find. With the aid of the Eon Duo - Latios and Latias - from Hoenn, they have sealed themselves off and have ceased all communication with anyone else out of fear. However, while the other Provinces believe otherwise, Fripperi is not only still around, but doing between than it ever could under the harsh hand of Illyis, Nevita, and Akiro.
geography;; Fripperi was far enough away from the main land as it was before. It's borders surround the regions of Unova and Kalos and the surrounding islands and waters, both of which were known to be the furthest regions from the mainland. However, with the help of the legendaries, they have moved even further apart. They have control over a large amount of land, Unova being the largest and most diverse region with Kalos close to it in terms of size. The Province was once a lush, green place but has sense been over-run by modernization, natural life being hard to find and towns and cities being spread out further than in any other place. Due to a release of energy from the legendaries keeping their home secure and far from the other Provinces, weather patterns have been severely disrupted and pale, almost paper white clouds cloud the sky daily, a poor contrast to the equally pale stone that covers much of the earth.
daily life;; Life in Fripperi is rather strange in comparison to the other Citadels. That is to say, their morals and cultures are much different due to isolation. Despite the fact that both regions are essentially one massive metropolis spread over the land, everything feels as isolated as the Province is from everyone else. Families stay with their immediate family and people rarely hear from any news outside of the group they stay with. People grow their own food synthetically, make their clothes, maneuver electricity into their homes, so on, so forth. Some communities branch out further than their own spouse and children or parents and siblings, but these rarely grow to be larger than twenty people within one block of the region. Creativity is not well promoted and those who try to express themselves in those ways are often ridiculed; however, the people pride themselves on being the most intelligent and mechanically-savvy humans in the world. The people of Fripperi stand for fear, and rightfully so; the wrong doings to them in the past have made them fearful of the other Provinces. The wrath of exhausted legendaries that keep them away from the other Provinces have made them fearful of an attack from the massive beasts. Mistrust of neighbors and strangers have caused them to be fearful of everyone not related by blood or through close platonic bonds. Not much happens in Fripperi in fear of what might happen as a result.
The tradition passed down in Fripperi can be considered the most heinous of the three. More than a century of keeping the Province far away and out of eyesight has taken its toll on the Eon Duo and, while rest is greatly needed, rest is something they cannot afford. Instead, the people, in a desperate attempt to keep themselves away, were forced to find a way to provide the life energy to the duo to keep them going. In the end, they came to a conclusion: the second child of every family shall be sacrificed to the Eon Duo and their life energy offered to keep them safe. The sacrificed are then preserved in stone; in the middle of the old Unova region, a massive boulder with the indents of children's' faces and bodies is displayed for all to see and admire. After all, without them, Fripperi would be at the mercy of Illyis, Nevita, and Akiro.
THE CITADEL
Paradise. The Citadel is the capital of Pokéarth as a whole - located in the center of Illyis where the old Indigo League was once located - and is the closest thing since the Oberste took over to a utopia. Paradise. The people within the colossal dome live in what can only be described as peace, prosperity, and sheer blithe. The jobs are nice and high paying, the city is clean, the city is safe, and they are the most favored place in all of Pokéarth by the oppressive government. More freedoms. Better lives. Or, at least, this is what anyone within the multi layered city would think.
Over a century ago, construction on the massive dome mentioned above was started, an impenetrable one-way mirror that kept the city safe from harm. However, what the people inside thought was the mistake was that people outside could see them, but not the other way around. When the dome was completed and these things never changed, they simply went along with it. In time, the dome was designed to make it look as though everything was surrounded by plains and the light of the sun made it through. What the people didn't know that this was the beginning of a long term plan of their's that they wanted to hide from the people within the Citadel. These days, it has been planted in each and every citizen and servant living within the city that everyone outside of the dome has died of nuclear fallout and they are the only surviving humans left on Pokéarth.
The Citadel is a massive city that expanded upward when it couldn't move outward anymore. The sixth layer - the highest and most safe in case of collapse - is the residential area. The fifth level contains government and financial buildings. Parks are located on the fourth level. Stores and restaurants occupy the third and second, and the base level has an assortment of less important buildings and such. The only Province that were allowed access into the building were members of Illyis, important figures from Nevita, and children sold away as servants from the latter Province. Due to being blocked off from the world, only important members of Illyis are allowed within the dome.
